Parker Bottcher:Hello, and welcome to episode one of Crease Monsters podcast. From gear reviews and pro trades to league champions and even what's happening in the minor lacrosse, if it happened in the crease, we're talking about it. Let's get into it. First up, let's talk gloves. A few weeks ago, I picked up the STX LZR gloves.
Parker Bottcher:And let me tell you, these are an absolute game changer. First thing I noticed, so much protection. I've taken a couple solid hacks wearing these things, barely felt it, and it the padding is unreal. And it doesn't feel bulky. They've somehow nailed that sweet spot between being super protective but not turning your hands into bricks.
Parker Bottcher:The second thing, right off the rack, these things are super flexible, move with my hands instead of fighting against it. No break in period. No stiff feeling, just straight comfort control. Grip is on point too. Passing, shooting, cradling, it all feels smooth compared to my last pair.
Parker Bottcher:It's like night and day. Honestly, I made the upgrade. Couldn't be happier if you were looking for new gloves. The LZRs are definitely worth considering. Alright.
Parker Bottcher:Gear talk done. Let's move into what's been making headlines in the lacrosse world. Big story. The man cup. Six Nations chiefs in The US Salmon Bellis are facing off again, and this will be their fourth time in history these two have battled for the man cup.
Parker Bottcher:1994, 1995, 2023, and now 2025. Here's the story. The Salmon Billies haven't won a man cup since 1991. That's thirty four years. Meanwhile, the Chiefs are looking for their third title in a row.
Parker Bottcher:If they pull it off, it'll also mark a full decade of the cup staying in the East. So if the Salmon Bellies finally break the streak and bring the cup back to the West, or are we going to see the Chiefs keep their winning streak rolling? Personally, I would love to see the Bellies take the win. The Chiefs are still the team to beat. They're physical, but for the bellies have having home floor advantage, Queens Park Arena, it's going to be an epic matchup either way.
Parker Bottcher:I will be cheering the bellies on from the stands. Switching gears into the NLL, a couple big updates. First franchise tag, Tyler Pace, Zed Williams, Zach Courier, and Christian Dobianco got tagged. Dobianco, especially, he's he's a backbone goalie, and Vancouver's warriors locking him in was a no brainer. Same with base.
Parker Bottcher:You don't just let guys like that walk away. Next, some controversy. The Albany firewolves have moved to Ontario. That means there are now three Ontario based teams. Some fans are excited for more Canadian lacrosse, but others feel like it's crowding one market.
Parker Bottcher:Time will tell if this is the right move. And the trade everyone's been talking about, Zed Williams heading to Rochester. In return, the Mammoth will receive the tenth overall draft pick and the twenty eighth. Honestly, I think Rochester's got the better deal here. Williams has proven a difference maker.
Parker Bottcher:Adding him to their roster immediately shifts their offense. Those draft picks could be solid, but Williams is ready to produce. Now on the Canadian side, some huge wins recently. Coquitlam Admacs take the Minto Cup junior a big win. Congrats to them.
Parker Bottcher:Tough competition, but they came out on top. And, of course, the new West Salmon Belize won the WLA playoffs to punch their ticket to the man cup. That setup for the man cup showdown, we're all hyped for. It's been a wild summer of box lacrosse. Alright.
Parker Bottcher:Before we wrap things up, let's talk about grassroots of the game. It's that time again. Minor lacrosse field triads are starting up. So to all the players just lacing up their cleats, I wanted to say, good luck. Hustle hard.
Parker Bottcher:Most importantly, have fun. Child can feel stressful. Remember, coaches notice effort, attitude, and teamwork just as much as big skill. Bring energy, support your teammates, and show them that you're coachable. That's how you make a great impression.
Parker Bottcher:To all the young crease monsters out there, keep up grinding because every rep, every drill, every shift brings you closer to where you wanna be. Alright. That's a wrap for the episode. Today, we covered SDX LGR gloves, upcoming man cup battle between sheaves and bellies, some huge NLL moves, and, of course, we wish good luck to everyone heading to minor field droughts. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Parker Bottcher:Who do you think will is the man cup this year, and what do you think about the firewolf's move to Ontario? Drop me a comment on Instagram, YouTube, and let's keep conversation going.
